Between October, 2007 and today - early 2012 - this small album represents unique views of the talented people of the San Francisco Bay Area Cuban timba scene.
Some of the early shots are from the famous, late-great Jelly's at Pier 50 in San Francisco. The late afternoon lighting at Jelly's was unequalled and it is a shame it is gone on many levels.
The San Jose Jazz Festival is a great venue for the bands, though I no longer shoot the event due to tripping over 25 photographers - it has become stupidly crowded.
Then there is Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz...great sound system, terrible arcade lighting. I pray for a show with no Christmas tree lighting.
