The 9th Annual CubaCaribe Dance Festival will present performances, workshops and demonstration/lectures by master and emerging Caribbean and Latino musicians and choreographers, each offering a unique look at the power of people and their use of music and dance to overcome daily trials.
The theme for this year's Festival is Tributes to our Teachers.
This year is especially unique and exciting as CubaCaribe is inviting the modern dance company, Danza del Caribe from Santiago, Cuba to perform! This will be the first time that this Cuban company has EVER been to the States!
Ramon Ramos Alayo, CubaCaribe's artistic director, danced with this company when he still lived with Cuba. Sadly, the artistic director of Danza del Caribe, Eduardo Rivero, just passed away - and so this year's Festival will be dedicated to him. Danza del Caribe is a fantastic Cuban modern dance company that uniquely blends modern dance technique with Afro-Cuban folklore and has influenced Ramos' own aesthetic greatly. April 12 - 14, 2013
